You would think Senator Dodd would have learned from his past mistakes in dealing with bankers, evidently not! Here they were having a fundraising event at Goodspeed Opera House with head bankers invited, get our checkbooks out, Dodd needs more money. Majority of the people went in via the back door, including Senator Dodd. Does that tell you something?

Flag Cake

One of my favorite cakes to make for 4th of July. This recipe was Barefoot Contessa, which I had to modify the frosting, not because I did not have the ingredients, but due to it seemed a little too extreme. The frosting called for 4 sticks of butter, two blocks cream cheese and two boxes of confectioners sugar. I used two sticks of butter, 2 blocks of cream cheese and one box of sugar. It seemed to be just right, the cake was practically gone, with people going for seconds. I also used strawberries instead of raspberries. Strawberries are in season and raspberries are super expensive right now. I think it came out just fine.

Hello hummingbird!

I put the feeder out, within an hour I had hummingbirds fighting to the right of who owns the feeder! The may be small, but they certainly can put a good battle up with each other!
